That this patterned seuqence resembles the exact configuration of the lid of the sarcophagus of Pacal Votan, from some 1279 years before the Arecibo message was designed, may be a coincidence of intuitive sciences, or it may have been intentional by Drake and Sagan, who designed the patterned sequence. Either way, the more shocking idea would be to consider the Mayans, thousands of years before, had received the message from the nearby antenna's location in the future.
