II. “Looped” or “Flying” Formula (attributed to AIR)
While the other depictions of the “Dragon Formulae” are at a more or less 45° angle from the flat
surface of the ecliptic Zodiac round, this diagram depicts the relationships described by the
others in the more easily recogniseable format usually given, as a perfect circle. Thus, the same
relationship just described by the “Direct” or “Creeping” formula (that the elemental attributes
of the “Fixed” signs or “Aces” rotate opposite the direction for those of the “Princesses”) is
shown here as the “Common” signs of the same four Seasons. Instead of the twin “loops,” a “head”
and “tail” of Draco, we see instead four “serpents,” one for each quadrant. The placement of the
heads, bodies and tails of these “serpents” relative to the Seasons is less important than their
essentially quadrangular arrangement.
